AS THE [DOG] WORLD TURNS

The Ongoing Saga with Homeward Bound Rescue

"The Dogs"

One of the things that was common in most of the hate mail I received was the condition of the dogs that were being fostered at the Animal House. After much discussion, we decided that evidently, volunteers as well as the general public is unaware of not only the condition of the dogs that come out of the south, but also the propensity for disease and illness. We cannot possibly expect Hollenbach or any of her cronies to correct this misnomer, so I have decided that when possible, I will show pictures of the dogs that were being fostered here, along with any information I have. And for some reason Saint Peggy [Levin], President Personalized Greyhounds, is still touting the horrible condition of the dogs, as recent as in a Yahoo posting on Sunday, 3/09. Why? I know for a fact that she knows what shape some dogs are in when they come to a rescue. (Did you forget about the Kansas City dogs?) Dogs coming out of the south are in bad shape and I admire rescues who are willing to work with and nurse these dogs back to health. But in no way is the Animal House going to be held responsible for the condition these dogs came into my facility or are we to be Homeward Bound's scapegoat for their lack of foresight in bringing dogs up from the South. Again, I was naïve. It will not happen again.

I would also like to remind you that all dogs were seen by Dog Law on 2/27, checked again by the Humane Society Officer on 2/28, and all dogs were vet checked and received wellness check-ups on Friday, 3/1. I speak the truth. And although I am not so naïve as to assume I will convert any of the radicals, I hope to educate those who are not aware .... and to make those 'enlightened' ones wonder, "Why the drama"?
