Cool Doggie News June 2007

Good Doggie Greetings!

As some of you may have read in the AH&Co Homeless Dogs Newsletter, 2007 is a year of change for the Animal House.  The theme for this year is definately NEW ... the Animal House is now under sole ownership, having bought-out my partner in January - there are lots of new faces, a new Animal House in Carlisle,  a new logo, new signs, new traditions, and we are getting back into the rescue business!

All of this could not have been possible, however, without some very kind and inspirational individuals that had faith in the Animal House ideals. Please indulge me while I take just a moment to thank:

- our customers for being patient with the transition
- Mark, my husband, who stood by me through it all
- Bob Day & Kristin Lombardi, Integrity Bank
- Craig Adler, our Attorney
- Ray Brown, our Accountant
- Ellen Smith & Louise West (Personalized Greyhounds). Both ladies gave me the courage to be on my own.

Thanks to everyone who offered words of encouragement. Without your support and positive influence, the Animal House may not exist today.

Sharon

New Logo

LogoThe Animal House has a new logo!  Isn't he just the coolest?  We call him our 'Peace Puppy' - and please don't read more into it than intended. He's just a happy-go-lucky, "isn't the world a beautiful place kinda' guy". Don't we all wish we were there again?  He's fun, he's whimsical, and he's naive ...  a better place - a better time.

The Animal House provides you with that 'peace' of mind and your dog with a 'happy-go-lucky' place where a dog can be a dog!

No strings - no expectations ... just dogs.
New Sign

signOK .... "Peace Puppy" is the star of our new sign. Since our opening in Nov of '98, daycare has taken over as the leading service we offer. Our old sign didn't reflect this. Besides, we wanted a fresh, new look for a fresh, new start!  The old sign can still be seen on the south side of the building (facing 581). It's part of our history & we just can't part with it!

(Did I say Nov '98?  We're coming up on 10 years in business next year. Hurray for us! Look for a celebration .... after all, we're always looking for an excuse for a party!)
New Animal House in Carlisle

Carlisle StoreCarol Line was the inspiration behind the Carlisle location.  Since Carol is a native of the area, she convinced us that Carlisle was ready for our unique style of dog care and she was right. The good people of Carlisle have made us feel welcome and we are happy to be a part of this community. We currently only have grooming in Carlisle, but we are planning to eventually have all services provided in the future (Doggie: Daycare, Bed & Breakfast, Boutique, Education & Foster Care). Oh, and I forgot to mention .... we are located at 103 E South St (across the street from LeTort Elementary School & the Molly Pitcher Cemetary).

PS:  Look for a fresh new color on the outside sometime soon.
Animal House Rescue

PennySome of our long-time customers may remember the 'House that Animal Built'. It was the name of our non-profit side (i.e. our rescue). About two years into the 'rescue scene', we decide that it was not for us.

Times change, however, as do attitides.  We have decided to once again open our rescue .... heck, we've been fostering for years and we have never turned away a dog that the Lord brought to our doorstep.

Altho we have many dogs immediately ready for adoption, we specialize in those that are difficult or have behavior problems.  Please feel free to join our 'Homeless Dogs Newsletter'. We'll keep you posted on the dogs we have available.

New Faces - Denise Glass
Master Groomer
Mechanicsburg Grooming Manager

DeniseDenise manages the grooming department at the Mechanicsburg location and comes to the Animal House with over 10 years experience in the grooming industry. She and her family live on a 10 acre homestead with 6 dogs (Falcor - Standard Poodle, Hunter - Springer, Jasmine - Lab, Maximus - German Shepherd, Peanut - Rat Terrier mix, & Pupperoni - Cock-a-poo), 3 horses (Diamond, Slate, & Lakota), 3 cats (Blue, Pete, & Tom), a Cockatiel named Charlie, and a few chickens.

According to Denise, "I am determined to make my part of this world a better, safer place for animals. I have opened my heart & my home to those who may otherwise seem 'expendable'." As Mark Twain said, "If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you; that is the principal difference between a dog & a man."

New Traditions
Homeless Dogs Recipe Book

book The Animal House is starting a tradition! (We all love traditions!) We would like to create an 'annual cookbook' and we would LOVE to have your recipe(s)! Proceeds of the profits will go to local rescue groups as well as Animal House's rescue fund.
Please feel free to tell us a little about the recipe and a pet you have rescued (if applicable). If you supply your email address, we will be sure to let you know when the cookbook has been published.

If you have an idea for a cookbook name, please submit that also ... remember this is the "START OF A TRADITION"! The name will follow thru forever (followed by the volume number & year). The winner of the 'name contest' will receive the very first cookbook - hot off the press - FREE, as our way of recognizing your contribution.

Submit your recipe(s) to AnimalHouseCo@comcast.net and place 'Recipe' in the subject line.
